Demons Within

Paige C. Storme

Deep inside they stir--I hear their distant shouts
Scratching on a door I locked to keep the torture out.

Still even now, though locked away, my spirit holds no peace
I wish that I could let them go--my God, what sweet release!

The demons deep within me are the masters of my space--
The tailors of the shroud I wear upon my weary face.

Taunting me they screech and scream, just like a garden's weed
Give me strength to face the day these demons will be freed.

I know one day they will escape and I'll not turn to run
The war will end when they're released--the battle's just begun.
