ROOM TO WRITE is a delightfully inspirational little book of random ponderings, thoughts about writing, motivational quotations and creativity seeds.
Each cleverly-titled page provides some food for thought, a related quote and an exercise to jump-start your daily writing session.
Although these pages can be used randomly and are effective as story starters, they can also be used to help you in areas in which you are stumped or blocked in your writing by utilizing the helpful Index on Page 203. There, you will find appropriate headings such as Character, Craft, Description, Dialogue, Form, Genre, Humor, Narrative, Plot, Point of View, to name a few. You can then read through the exercises that deal with that topic and find one that applies to your current stage of writing or situation.
I found this book to be extremely entertaining AND a great way to get words flowing onto paper. In my eyes, this book merits 5 out of 5, but I gave it 4 out of 5, because it is a book that may not be for everyone. If you do respond to exercise prompts, it is a wonderful book that will facilitate your writing and thinking in many fruitful ways.
