I started writing in my early teens, around the time I discovered Isaac Asimov and Ursula Le Guin, but I got a bit side-tracked by work and family in my twenties and thirties. Now I'm trying to complete a novel set in an Elizabethan-esque world (see link below).
By day I'm a web developer for the Ensembl project, based near Cambridge, England. Before that I was in publishing, mainly scientific and technical magazines and journals, moving gradually into electronic publishing and web development. Thanks to a stint at Cambridge University I've been lured away from M$ Windows into the challenging but ultimately satisfying world of Linux, which I guess makes me a Grade A geek :)
